Tim Shea

Tim is based in Houston and currently manages Shell’s aviation R&D portfolio. This portfolio covers all of Shell’s aviation products, both current and future and encompasses fuels (jet, biojet and avgas) and lubricants (turbine engine oils, piston engine oils, greases and hydraulic fluids). Prior to Tim’s current role, he was the aviation gasoline development manager. This program covers all areas of avgas R&D globally, however his current focus being on the development of an unleaded high octane (100+ MON) aviation gasoline for the US market. Prior to joining the aviation group, Tim led various innovation and octane enhancer R&D teams within the Retail Fuels R&D organization, in addition to leading the development of an unleaded US motorsport fuels portfolio as the US motorsport fuels project manager. Prior to working in the fuels area, Tim has led projects in the lubricants and coatings fields. Tim has significant experience in introducing and developing new technologies, primarily in the octane boosting and combustion regimes as well as new product development. His education consists of a BA in Chemistry from Western Connecticut State University, a PhD in Chemistry from Wesleyan University and a Postdoctoral position at SUNY-ESF in Syracuse, NY.
