Sweepstakes 2018

A Legend is Reborn

Win the most iconic aircraft of all time – the Piper J-3 Cub

This 1941 Piper J-3C-65 Cub NC35303 rolled out of Piper’s Lock Haven, Pennsylvania. It was purchased by John Dacy and Joe Perenchio of Harvard, Illinois, and flew over Midwestern farm fields until December 7, 1941, when all civilian aircraft were grounded due to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.

John Dacy and his family owned the Cub for more than 51 years until 2014, when he decided to “pass the torch” to the next custodian, Don Wade at C & D Aviation where it is being restored as EAA’s 2018 Sweepstakes plane.

With a zero-time Continental A65-8 engine, new Grove disc brakes, a new Sensenich wooden propeller, Poly-Fiber covering system and the traditional Lock Haven yellow with black trim paint scheme, this Piper Cub will look just like when it rolled out of the factory in 1941.

Check out the restoration time lapse video.

The EAA 2018 Aircraft Sweepstakes has officially closed. Thank you for your support!
