Resources for AirVenture Oshkosh

More than 60 years ago, EAA AirVenture Oshkosh has evolved from a small gathering of aircraft and aviators into a grand, weeklong celebration known as The World’s Greatest Aviation Celebration.  Many exciting, amazing events are going on during AirVenture Oshkosh.  As a volunteer, how can we best serve our 500,000 AirVenture Oshkosh attendees. Here are some of the best resources to help you best assist the attendees to ensure they have a great experience.

Map

It can be challenging to be lost in flight to a pancake fly-in, lost during a road trip across the country, or lost looking for a featured event at AirVenture Oshkosh.  A map of the grounds is available to all volunteers to help assist an attendee on where things are located on the grounds of AirVenture Oshkosh.  Keep this map in your back pocket because you will refer to this map at least a handful of times per day.  The map is also located in the Visitor Guide.

Visitor Guide

The Visitor Guide, or in prior years Info Guide, is what I like to call the calendar for AirVenture Oshkosh.  The Visitor Guide has everything you need to know about what’s going on every day at any given time at AirVenture Oshkosh.  There is resource information, and visitor services information is at the beginning.  Along with that, the following information can be located in the Visitor Guide:  Name, location and hours of the shopping tents, name, location and hours for food, list of exhibitors and their location, maps, and a daily events schedule. These are free to everyone as an attendee and of course available to all volunteers.

AirVenture Today

What I have planned for the week is most likely going to change from day to day as will the schedule of events at AirVenture Oshkosh.  Use the daily newspaper called “AirVenture Today” for the most current information and updates.  It’s delivered to the grounds by 5 a.m. each day and fully distributed by volunteers by 7 a.m..  The AirVenture Today is located in newspaper boxes around the grounds.

Online

If you prefer to look information up online, we have the schedule online here www.airventure.org/schedule and/or you can go to www.airventure.org for information on features and attractions, news and multimedia, resources to help plan your trip to AirVenture Oshkosh, flying in info. and much, much more.  Review the site and all the information it has to offer.

Apps

A new app will be launched in June for all volunteers, staff and visitors to use.  While Sporty’s remains the sponsor, the new app is being built from the ground up and will provide significantly improved features and functionality when compared to the app we’ve used in previous years. Be on the lookout for more information on this new resource!

Social Media

If you are into keeping your friends and family updated on where you are, what you are doing, or just love to take a selfie, you’re not alone; EAA also loves to share what’s going on throughout the year and especially during AirVenture.  Follow the action on social media by using the hashtag #OSH14, and be sure to connect with use directly on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram!  If you have time to take a selfie, use #EAASELFIE.

Mobile Phone

Radio

EAA radio is on AM 1210 and 96.5 FM.  Listen to these stations for information on features and events as well as information on updates and the weather.
