I Hart Flying Scholarship - Scholarship closes August 10!  

The I Hart Flying Foundation's mission is to assist young women in achieving their aviation goals through the awarding of Flight Training Scholarships.

July 16-Aug 10, I Hart Flying’s themed scholarship celebrating their one-year anniversary with EAA, “Eagles Soar, Harts Explore,” is not age restrictive, and supportive of any level of flight training or flight certification. US/Canadian citizenship required.

Additional preference is given to a young woman who exhibits determination, focus and the clarity towards achieving a goal. The ideal candidate isn’t afraid of constructive criticism and is willing to learn and grow through a passionate aviation experience. She also displays positive influence in her community, spreading kindness and generosity to others. This candidate, whether shown through her social media activity or other means, is enthusiastic, open-minded and excels at empowering others to succeed.

She is willing and able to commit the time and determination required to become a pilot. This $5,000 Scholarship will aid a stellar female professional achieving their aviation goals.

The funds will be disbursed by EAA and with additional flight support items coming from I Hart Flying’s partners. Total award is valued at more than $6,500.

Richard R. Harper Flight Training Award
Richard Harper passed away at the early age of 57. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and later had a long career as a pilot for United Parcel Service starting his career in DC-8’s and then flying 757’s and 767’s. Rick was a hard working kind hearted man with a passion for life. He loved to help anyone in need. He was a devoted family man and cared deeply about family values. He worked hard to establish his career as a pilot, loved his aviation career and was excited to be able to mentor and encourage upcoming pilots to pursue their dreams. Richard’s wife, Gretchen, has created this scholarship to award two $7,500 Flight Training Scholarships to qualified applicants that show financial need as well as a passion for flight and the ambition to pursue a career as a pilot. Funds will be allocated to the student and the selected training program to ensure appropriate use and a process for progress checks.

WomenVenture Flight Training Scholarship
EAA is offering a WomenVenture Flight Training Scholarship to a female pursuing a sport or private pilot certificate, or additional ratings and certificates. This $5,000 award is available as part of EAA’s growing WomenVenture initiative to help women pursue their flight interests and remain active and involved in aviation. The ideal candidate is determined and focused, clearly demonstrates passion and enthusiasm for aviation, and shares The Spirit of Aviation with those around her by participating in aviation community activities and events.

Applicants must be at least 17 years old and a United States citizen. The recipient has the option to participate in an upcoming EAA Sport Pilot Academy (valued at $10,000) instead of taking the cash award. Funds will be paid directly to the student’s flight school of choice.

Flight Training Award - Sponsored By Swayne Martin And His YouTube Subscribers
Through the generosity of Swayne Martin and his YouTube subscribers, this scholarship has been established to help two students under the age of 18 years to push through their first part of flight training. Each $3,250 scholarship will be awarded to the candidate to help fund their achievement of obtaining a Private Pilot Certification. The funds will be awarded to the candidate and their selected training program jointly in two installments.

Tinker Murdock Family Flight Training Award
Through the generosity of Michael Murdock and Anne Tinker, this scholarship awards up to $7,500 to a Young Eagle/Next step applicant seeking to further their aviation training by completing a private pilot’s certificate. Applicants will be actively involved in EAA’s online ground school or other training program, demonstrating their commitment to the education opportunity. Application should include a written goal statement that includes details on how certification will help support that goal. Funds will be allocated to the student and the selected training program to ensure appropriate use and a process for progress checks.

Noah Favaregh Flight Training Award
This endowed scholarship has been established to remember and honor the spirit and dedication of Noah Favaregh and support the dreams of aviators everywhere! This flight training scholarship will be awarded to the candidate to help fund their achievement of obtaining a pilot’s certification. The funds will be awarded to the candidate and their selected training program jointly with benchmarks for achievement set forward prior to release of funding. The selected candidate will have already soloed.

The Chapter Network Sport Pilot Academy Scholarship
The Chapter Network Sport Pilot Academy Scholarship will cover tuition and onsite costs for the August 4-25, 2018 session of the EAA Sport Pilot Academy. The EAA Sport Pilot Academy assists aspiring pilots obtain their sport pilot certificate during a three-week training program in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

Applicants must have completed a Young Eagles flight prior to the start of the academy. Preference to applicants who demonstrate an involvement with a local EAA chapter.

The Sport Pilot Academy is an all-inclusive program. For three weeks the scholarship recipient will stay on the EAA grounds and be immersed in the aviation lifestyle. Best of all, you'll go home as a certificated sport pilot with top-notch training and education.

This program sets you up to succeed and makes it easy for you to fulfill all requirements. The package includes group and one-on-one instruction, flight training, lodging, food, and camaraderie. And you'll finish with an FAA practical test.

Flight training includes:
  • Maneuvers and procedures
  • Cross-country flight
  • Solo and cross-country milestones
  • Preparation for check ride

The Oshkosh Experience - EAA has put together a variety of activities that you won’t experience anywhere else including:

  • Guest speakers and meet-and-greets
  • EAA AirVenture Museum and behind-the-scenes tours
  • Flight experiences in a variety of EAA aircraft
  • Air traffic control tower tour
  • And much more!
Our certified flight instructors were specially selected and trained for this program. Their time is dedicated to your training, in flight and on the ground. Since the program is all-inclusive, you have the luxury of time without paying extra money to perfect your skills.

In addition to dedicated instructors, the program has a dedicated fleet of Cessna 162 Skycatchers with Continental O-200 engines. EAA staff maintain these aircraft to the highest standards. EAA's Sport Pilot Academy begins before you get to Oshkosh. You'll get access to Sporty's Online Ground School for sport pilots, which meets or exceeds the FAA requirements ($249 value). You'll need to complete the course before taking your FAA written test and flight training.

Participants of the EAA Sport Pilot Academy must be at least 17 years old and have completed the FAA written test at the commencement of the August session. Participants will be required to go through an interview process and sign an EAA waiver to participate in the Sport Pilot Academy.
