Last Call! Be Part of the EAA Concert Band at AirVenture
May 28, 2017 - EAA members and aviation enthusiasts are once again invited to participate in the EAA Concert Band during EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2017.
The EAA Concert Band is the only one of its kind as it consists entirely of aviation-minded people of all ages who gather to play at an aviation event. Over the 11 years since the band was first formed, more than 450 musicians have participated, sharing their love of music and aviation with the AirVenture crowd.
To sign up, fill out the registration form prior to May 28 to ensure enough music is available for all members.
The first rehearsal will be on Tuesday, July 25, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on the stage at Theater in the Woods and an additional rehearsal will be held Wednesday, July 26, at Forum Stage 9 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The band will perform the national anthem and a few additional numbers during the Tuesday afternoon air show and will hold a concert on Wednesday at 5 p.m. at the Theater in the Woods.
Participants will be informed of what parts they will play and how they will receive music following the application and an additional e-mail follow-up will be sent in June.
For those who play large instruments that are difficult to transport, the EAA Concert Band has partnered with Heid Music in Oshkosh. Players who need to reserve an instrument can call Heid directly at 920-651-4343.
