Report posted 8:30 PM Monday, July 24.
General Aviation Camping and Parking Areas
Fewer than the expected number of aircraft departed from the General Aviation areas after today's airshow. The General Aviation Camping Area and the General Aviation Parking Area both remained closed to new arrivals. At daybreak tomorrow morning, volunteer crews will check the areas to determine if sufficient contiguous vacant spots can be located in order to allow one or both of these areas to open. That check will not be complete by 7:00 AM, the normal time for aircraft arrivals to start. This web page will be updated as soon as either of the General Aviation areas reopens.
Camping and parking aircraft are being accommodated at Fond du Lac (FLD) and Appleton (ATW), with camping reservations required at Appleton.
Showplane Camping and Parking Areas
Showplane areas accommodate experimentals (homebuilts), warbirds, production aircraft manufactured prior to 1971, ultralights, and amphibians. These areas have stayed open and are expected to remain open for the duration of AirVenture 2017.
Prior rains at Wittman Regional Airport left numerous soft spots in turf areas used for aircraft taxiing. Pilots should keep a particularly sharp watch for obstructions whenever taxiing off of paved surfaces.
Airport Layout Information
Note that the stub taxiways north of Runway 9/27 have been renumbered. The 2017 AirVenture NOTAM (page 13) shows the current configuration. Be sure to have a copy of the 2017 NOTAM with you when you arrive. The 2017 NOTAM is available at www.eaa.org/notam.
Next planned update to this page: 9 AM Tuesday, July 25. Have a great flight!
