EAA Chapter Network Sport Pilot Academy Scholarship Now Open!

March 2017 - Through the generosity of EAA donors during the Gathering of Eagles, this scholarship awards $9,999 for full tuition to attend the Sport Pilot Academy in Oshkosh during the August 2017 session (August 12 - September 2). The Sport Pilot Academy is an accelerated three-week training program that allows attendees to attain a sport pilot certificate while being immersed in aviation with an experience only Oshkosh can offer.

This all-inclusive training session takes place on the EAA grounds in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and includes group and individual instruction, flight training, lodging, and food. In addition to the flight training, participants will experience a unique variety of activities including guest speakers and meet-and-greets, EAA Aviation Museum and behind-the-scenes tours, flight experiences in a variety of EAA aircraft, air traffic control tower tour, and more.

During the academy, all requirements for the sport pilot certificate will be fulfilled, and students will conclude the week with an FAA practical test. The scholarship also includes access to Sporty’s Online Ground School for sport pilots. Scholarship winners must be at least 18 years old and have successfully completed the FAA written test prior to attending the academy.

Applicants must have participated in the Young Eagles program as well as be a current member or nominated by a current member of an EAA chapter. Applicants will be required to go through an interview process and sign an EAA waiver to participate in the Sport Pilot Academy.
