Dozens of EAA Chapters Hosting Flying Start Events in May

May 9, 2019 - More than 60 EAA chapters across the country are hosting Flying Start events during the month of May to commemorate Learn to Fly Day on May 18, with many of the Flying Start events taking place on the day itself.

"EAA Learn to Fly Day is the perfect opportunity to host a Flying Start event and invite the local community to your local chapter," EAA chapter field representative Kyle Voltz said. "The Flying Start program is designed to break down the barriers and debunk the myths surrounding learning to fly, leaving participants with an understanding of the fundamentals such as how much it will cost to learn to fly, how long it will take, and where they can get started. It also introduces aviation enthusiasts to their local chapter, which can act as a portal to the aviation community."

EAA's Flying Start program provides EAA chapters with a chance to find aspiring pilots in their local communities, and then to bring those folks into the chapter through a prepared presentation and video, followed by an Eagle Flight and six-month EAA membership.
