January 2024 – Greetings,
Following the weather across Canada, it looks like almost everyone is experiencing a mild winter so far, which should hopefully mean some great winter flying. The days are already starting to get longer. I don’t know where this winter is literally flying!

By now, you’ve probably heard the news that the Snowbirds will perform at AirVenture 2024! We are also working to hopefully host them as our special guests at the Canadian Breakfast. We anticipate some additional special appearances at our Canadian Pavilion.

We have received confirmation from EAA that we will be allocated a group camping area again this year. Our chapters representative, Phillip Johnston, will take the lead on this initiative once again. If you are interested in having a spot in our Little Canada camping area, please email Phil at chapters.eaacc@gmail.com.

I am waiting on EAA for a meeting date to discuss insurance for Canadian EAA members. I will update you as this progresses.

Congratulations once again to Aaron Crawford, member of Chapter 115, for being selected to receive the EAA Harrison Ford Flying Scholarship. Only 14 Canadians applied out of more than 3,500 scholarship applicants. The 2024 scholarship application intake is open right now until March, so pass it on. We have many more than 14 qualified Canadians who should apply. Visit https://www.eaa.org/eaa/learn-to-fly/scholarships.

Best wishes for 2024!
