1970 Wittman Witts V - N3259

Location: Pioneer Airport

Steve Wittman built the prototype Witts V to help spur interest in the new Formula V racing class. Formula V racers were powered by Volkswagen automobile engines and were intended to provide a low cost entry into air racing.

The Witts V proved very competitive and very successful. Steve Wittman sold plans for the aircraft, so several other Witts Vs were built and competed against it in the class.

Donated by the estate of Sylvester J. “Steve” and Paula M. Wittman, Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
