Do you know what it takes to fly a big rocket? No pressure, but the number of things that have to go right in the firsts 8 ½ minutes of flight is beyond crazy! There are ground systems, rocket boosters and engines, throttling, steering and more! AND, on the Day of Launch you’ve got to worry about a clear range, clouds, loads, updates on wind shear and wind speed. Launching a rocket is amazing, but … First you gotta get off the ground. Learn from a former NASA astronaut and current launch director - It really IS rocket science!

Moderator: Marcia Lindstrom – Marcia leads the Strategic Communications Team for NASA's Space Launch System, America's rocket designed for deep space exploration. Her time at NASA has included serving as External Relations Manager for Marshall Space Flight Center and as the Headquarters Communications Strategist leading Agency-wide exhibits. She is a USAF veteran and came to NASA after more than a decade at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center leading the Center’s world renowned Space Camp programs.
