Chapter 512 Kicks Off EAA/IMC Club in Placerville, California

EAA chapter 512March 2017 - More than 30 pilots and EAA chapter representatives from around Placerville’s Hangtown and surrounding airports gathered when EAA Chapter 512 was hosting its first IMC Club meeting. It took place on Tuesday, March 7, at its hangar on Placerville Airport (KPVF), located east of Sacramento on the SFO sectional.

It was a fly or drive event for those wanting to attend. Invitations were mailed to 50 EAA chapters in northern California, and parts of Nevada and Oregon, to invite EAA chapter representatives interested in this program to join for the kickoff of this newest EAA/IMC Club. If other chapters were interested in starting one of these programs, this was their chance to learn about it in the real live demonstration.

Radek Wyrzykowski, EAA’s IMC program manager, was there from headquarters to kick off this event for the chapter.

“This is an excellent way for pilots to share experiences,” said Dick Wampach, EAA/IMC coordinator for EAA Chapter 512. “The format typically starts off with a brief scenario of a flight that becomes ‘iffy,’ and is then opened to the discussion of what would you do? It has a great potential to enlighten all pilots who wish to participate in a one-hour gathering.”
