Bernice "Bee" Haydu

Women Airforce Service Pilot

Bernice is a Women Air Force Service Pilot (WASP), the first women to fly military aircraft. She was President of the WASP organization from 1975-1978 where she helped the WASPs gain recognition as veterans of WWII which had previously been denied. On March 10, 2010 Congress awarded the WASPs the Congressional Gold Medal. Bee continued flying up until her late 70's.
