1. Overview
To ensure uninterrupted access to benefits and services, eligible memberships are enrolled in automatic renewal. Membership dues are billed annually to the payment method on file unless the member opts out prior to the renewal date.
2. Eligibility
Automatic renewal applies to the following membership types:
- Individual memberships
- Family memberships
- Other paid annual memberships
The following memberships are excluded:
- Lifetime memberships
- Complimentary or promotional memberships
- Student memberships (unless otherwise specified)
Members are enrolled in automatic renewal when they:
- Join EAA, provide a valid payment method, and opt in to automatic renewals, or
- Renew an existing membership, provide or update a valid payment method, and opt in to automatic renewals
Enrollment does not require additional action by the member. Members may opt out at any time, including during the membership application process.
4. Advance Notice
Members receive advance notification prior to any automatic renewal charge. Notifications include:
- Renewal date
- Renewal amount
- Payment method on file
- Instructions for opting out
Notifications are sent via email at least once prior to renewal.
5. Billing & Payment
- Renewal charges are processed on the membership expiration date
- If a payment attempt fails, EAA may retry the charge
- Membership benefits remain active during retry attempts
6. Opt-Out
Members may opt out of automatic renewal at any time by:
- Opting out of automatic renewal when applying for a membership
- Managing preferences in their online account
- Contacting Member Services by phone or email
Opting out stops future automatic charges but does not affect the current paid term.
7. Refunds
If a member contacts EAA within 30 days of an automatic renewal charge, a full refund may be issued upon request.
8. Policy Updates
This policy may be updated periodically. The current version will be published on the EAA website.
