Aurelio Montes of Montes Winery Selected as Vinter for 2014 EAA AirVenture Fundraising Event
Gathering of Eagles event July 31 brings together aviation world to support youth
EAA AVIATION CENTER, OSHKOSH, Wis. — (June 12, 2014) — Montes Winery was selected by the Experimental Aircraft Association to be the official vintner for this year’s EAA Gathering of Eagles, one of the aviation world’s top fundraising events, held each year at the EAA AirVenture fly-in at Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
The Gathering of Eagles, which annually raises more than $2 million for youth aviation education programs, will be held at the EAA AirVenture Museum on Thursday, July 31. In previous years, the event has drawn such personalities as actors Harrison Ford, John Travolta and Morgan Freeman, sports luminaries including Arnold Palmer and Jack Roush, and aviation legends such as Apollo astronauts Jim Lovell and Gene Cernan.
“Our goal at the Gathering of Eagles event is to create an unforgettable evening where the aviation community comes together to support the future of flight for the next generations,” said Nadia Farr, EAA’s director of donor relations. “The outstanding wines from Montes Winery were recommended to EAA because of its impressive reputation among other vintners. It is a key element that will help make the evening memorable.”
As part of the Gathering of Eagles dinner, Montes Winery will supply several of its renowned selections from its vineyards in Chile and California, which reflect the brands’ reputation for outstanding premium wines exported around the world.
Chief Winemaker Aurelio Montes looks forward to the event, noting, “Being an avid pilot has leant me the eyes of an eagle and helped me identify wild new terroirs suitable for producing high quality wine.
