60,000 YOUNG EAGLES ENROLLED IN SPORTY'S LEARN TO FLY COURSE

Young aviators take their first step towards acquiring their pilot’s certificate

EAA AVIATION CENTER, OSHKOSH, Wisconsin — (July 8, 2019) — EAA’s Young Eagles program which has provided over 2.1 million youth with free demonstration flight experiences, continues to guide young people toward a lifestyle of aviation by offering free enrollment in Sporty’s Learn to Fly course. The Young Eagles program achieved a major milestone on June 28, as 60,000 kids have now enrolled in the virtual pilot school.

The Sporty’s Learn to Fly course offers ground school, test prep and real-world training all in one easy-to-use system. Learning content consists of dynamic in-flight HD video, 3D animations and easy-to-understand instruction that prepare students to earn Private, Recreational, and Sport Pilot certificates. Students also gain access to narrated flight maneuvers, powerful analytical tools and even access to a CFI if extra help is needed.

“It is incredibly important for EAA and the Young Eagles program to provide children interested in aviation with as many outlets as possible to learn more about flying,” said Brian O’Lena, Manager of the EAA Young Eagles and Eagle Flight programs. “Fostering the spirit of aviation within these thousands of kids has the potential to turn their interest in flying into a future hobby or even a career.”

Sporty’s Learn to Fly course has earned numerous awards and was recently named the best virtual training course for earning a private pilot certificate by The Aviation Consumer. The course was praised for its engaging and intuitive content, portability, and dynamic study options for all aspects of initial flight training.

Sporty’s, a longtime partner of EAA and the Young Eagles Program, has offered the Learn to Fly course (valued at $199) to Young Eagles free of charge for the last nine years, giving Young Eagles the best of the best when it comes to flight training resources.

“As a company and as individuals, we are committed to growing the pilot population,” said Michael Wolf, CEO and president of Sporty’s. “Providing our LTF course to Young Eagles helps to encourage young people to pursue their aviation dreams.
