December 2018 - In October, we had a most informative webinar session presented by the North American Trainer Association. NATA is committed to improving the safety record of owners and operators of North American Aviation military aircraft (primarily trainers), and maintaining an excellent safety record at its formation clinics. The committee maintains a database of mishaps related to these aircraft, conducts research and analysis of these data, and develops policies and programs to help prevent mishaps.
Safety Officer Bruce Mayes and President Larry “Lumpy” Lumpkin provided a thorough overview of NATA’s structure and objectives and offered a deeper dive into several programs that it has built to maintain safe operations, especially for the challenging venue of formation flight. It was an engaging and thought-provoking session. If you were not able to attend live, you can review the recorded webinar.
For this and future webinars, Kyle Ludwick announced an enhancement to our program. From now on, “live” attendance at safety-related presentations like this will qualify you for FAA WINGS credit. Well done, Kyle!
Thanks go out to Bruce and Lumpy for putting together and sharing this program for us. We continue to seek out similar material to be shared with the Type Club Coalition membership. Please get in touch with me or Kyle if your group has something you believe would be of value to share.
