What is the EAA Young Eagles Workshop Program?
The EAA Young Eagles Workshops program is an aviation day-camp opportunity for youths ages 11 to 17 to learn about aviation in a social setting at a local airport. Using both turnkey content and instructions provided by EAA, which is then supplemented with chapter-sourced materials, these activities are designed to be adaptable to the chapter’s schedule and volunteer capacity. The duration of workshop activities can be modified to each chapter’s liking and capacity, ranging from a few hours to a multi-day aviation camp.
Young Eagles Workshops provide emotional, creative, social, and educational growth opportunities for youths with mentorship from EAA chapter members, sparking a love for aviation in youths at a local level.
To get started, a Young Eagles Workshop kit is available at a flat rate to chapters, consisting of downloadable classroom-style content, and hands-on activities where the chapter will supplement components to complete the activities. Additional kit materials and additional full activities are also available to purchase and consist of varying levels of complexity.
In addition to a variety of printable learning content, plans, instructions, materials, and kits, a program guide is available, including workshop schedule options with planning tools designed to help plan and prepare chapters for a Young Eagles Workshop event.
