Chapter Eligibility and Requirements

Ray Aviation Scholarships

The EAA Ray Aviation Scholarship program relies on the best of the best EAA Chapters to achieve its unprecedentedly high success rates. The involvement of the local EAA chapter is critical to supporting the Ray Foundation’s mission of developing youth into the leaders of tomorrow! Without the mentorship of a healthy and active chapter, the probability of completion of flight training decreases drastically.

Due to the importance of the chapter’s mentorship and support, chapters interested in administering the EAA Ray Aviation Scholarship will be required to apply on an annual basis. When selecting eligible chapters the following criteria will be taken into consideration:

  • Overall chapter health and activity
  • Youth activities the chapter engages in (Young Eagles Workshops, Young Eagles Build and Fly, Youth Builds, etc.)
  • Chapter experience administering a scholarship
  • Availability of potential scholars
Important: Just because a chapter has been awarded a scholarship in the past, does not mean their application will be approved in a future year. It is critical that chapters put time and effort into their chapter application.

How To Boost Your Chapter's Application Score

Each EAA chapter participating in the EAA Ray Aviation Scholarship program will be required to appoint a Scholarship Coordinator. This individual will serve as the program lead and point of contact between EAA Headquarters, the chapter, and the scholar. Having one coordinator minimizes communication confusion between the Ray Scholarship Program Manager at HQ and chapters. The Scholarship Coordinator must commit to understand and fulfill the subsequent duties outlined in the EAA Ray Aviation Scholarship Coordinator Guide and meet the requirements below:

The EAA Ray Aviation Scholarship Coordinator Guide is a great resource to review before committing to the role of Scholarship Coordinator. It will also help guide the coordinator through some of this ins and outs of the role. View the Scholarship Coordinator Guide ›

The Scholarship Coordinator plays a critical role to ensure the Ray Aviation Scholarship recipient is meeting their requirements and staying on track to earn their pilot certificate. View the Scholar Eligibility and Requirements ›
