Young Eagles Activities at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh

By David Leiting, EAA Eagles Program Manager

Volunteer Appreciation Events

For the second straight year, Young Eagles volunteers attending EAA AirVenture Oshkosh will have the ability to choose between two different appreciation events.

The Young Eagles Volunteer Banquet has become a staple of the Oshkosh experience for many Young Eagles volunteers. In 2025, EAA introduced the Young Eagles Breakfast with the intent of offering an equivalent experience to the Young Eagles Banquet, since seats at the banquet sell out so quickly.

Volunteers will have the opportunity to attend either the banquet or the breakfast — not both. With this approach, EAA will be able to accommodate nearly double the volunteers. We kindly ask that couples or close friends do not take advantage of the system to attend both events. In the spirit of these events, we want to accommodate as many volunteers as possible.

Young Eagles coordinators and active Young Eagles pilots can expect to see the invites in their email inbox the first week of June.

Young Eagles Mission 2.5

EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2026 will mark the conclusion of Young Eagles Mission 2.5, the push to reach 2.5 million Young Eagles flown by the start of convention. Thanks to the dedication of EAA Young Eagles volunteers, EAA is on track to accomplish Mission 2.5.

To commemorate this milestone, Young Eagles Chairman Jimmy Graham will fly a commemorative 2.5 millionth Young Eagle on Wednesday, July 22, at approximately 2 p.m. immediately prior to the afternoon air show. The Young Eagle for this flight will be selected via a chapter nomination process. If you know a young person deserving of this opportunity, have them apply here.

Following the flight, there will be a mass Young Eagles volunteer and participant photo on Boeing Plaza. Be sure to mark your calendar so you can be part of this historic photo, commemorating another major Young Eagles milestone!

EAA Blue Barn

As the home of Chapters and Young Eagles, the EAA Blue Barn will offer up plenty of activities for Young Eagles volunteers. Be sure you plan to stop by the facility and check out the following activities.

  • Forum – Tuesday, July 21, 11:30 a.m., Young Eagles Online Registration & Digital Signature App
  • Forum – Wednesday, July 22, 10 a.m., EAA Young Eagles Rally Planning
  • EAA Young Eagles volunteer pilots can enter daily to win a Lightspeed headset
  • Pick up your commemorative Young Eagles Mission 2.5 button
  • Pick up Young Eagles materials including registration forms/waivers, logbooks, certificates, etc.

AirVenture is your convention, so our goal on the Young Eagles staff is to recognize your efforts, provide resources, and allow you to celebrate the program. We hope you are able to carve out a bit of your busy week to join us for Young Eagles activities!
