Canadians Take Part in EAA Spirit of Aviation Week
By Kyle Ludwick, EAA Manager of Partnership Development
August 2020 – Many Canadians took part in EAA Spirit of Aviation Week, which took place July 21-25. Over four million people from almost 140 countries tuned in on digital platforms and consumed content from aviation icons, pilot proficiency and learn to fly pieces, and even still enjoyed "Oshkosh show specials" through a new virtual expo offering.
A virtual version of our Monday morning Tim Horton's ritual was held via a Zoom conference. Many of us were there, some with your Tim's mugs and all with smiling faces. I was able to join in from the lobby of the EAA headquarters building and was pleased to be able to give a guided tour of the quiet but still very busy building.
Canadians not only viewed the content and participated in the aviation celebration; they were also showcased in many content pieces throughout the week. Greg "FOMO"; Hume-Powell of CF-18 demo and Snowbirds fame participated in a panel discussion about military demo flying, Mikey McBryan created a behind-the-scenes piece on Buffalo Airways, FlightChops and Kyle Fowler discussed flying aerobatics at Oshkosh in Kyle's Long-EZ, and other Canadians also showcased their aviation journey stories.
If you missed out on the week's festivities, you can still view all the content on EAAtogether.org, EAA's YouTube channel, and EAA's other social media channels on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter!
