Gorgeous Plans-Built Wins Gold Lindy for Canada

August 14, 2017 - Just to let you into what goes on in the minds of aircraft builders during judging, it would be worth relating a tale of the hours towards the end of the week of judging. Someone many of us had never met came into the Canadian tent at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh and sat down, looking very excited. He started by saying, “There are some judges looking at my plane again. One of them is even measuring the gaps between my control surfaces. I know I got them right.”
It turns out his name was Bruce Paylor and he hails from Guelph, Ontario. It looks like he built a gob-smacking gorgeous Bucker Jungmann 1.131-E-2000 serial number E3B-407 and its registration marks are C-FEBU.

I mentioned that most of us had never met Bruce. I have a feeling that building a perfect 1935 aircraft from plans must involve spending many hours in solitude. Congratulations to Bruce and all the other award-winning aircraft at Oshkosh this year. Hopefully, we'll get him to tell us more about his project — are you reading this Bruce?
