New Talks and Some Classics at the Canadian AirVenture Tent

By Ian Brown, EAA 657159, Editor - Bits and Pieces, Board member - EAA Canada Council

July 7, 2022 –

We have some exciting new talks lined up at the Canadian tent this year at AirVenture. As well as some of the classics, we will hear Megan Lokstet, a Ray Scholarship recipient from Winnipeg, and Olivia White from Ontario. They will be speaking about attracting Generation Z folks to aviation. If you’re a Baby Boomer like me you might need to look up who qualifies as Gen Z. I just did it so I’ll save you the trouble. Apparently Generation Z are those born between 1997 and 2012 so they’d be between 10 and 25 years old today. Megan and Olivia will be presenting their talk on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. and again on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m.

Please be sure to stop by the Canadian tent early in the week to confirm the schedule, grab a cup of Tim Horton’s coffee (Monday 8:00 — 9:30 a.m.), and sign up for Wednesday’s Canadian breakfast. As in past years, there will breakfast for 250 Canadian members, sponsored by Nacora. It’s always popular so you’ll need to come to the tent to sign up. No sign up — no breakfast!

Other presentations will include several on building aircraft in Canada and one on aircraft inspections and registration by the MD-RA. If you’re wondering what the CIFIB presentation is about, why not show up and find out? Hint: Interested in in-flight weather?

You can check out the full program below, but be sure to join us for our Thursday tradition at 4:00 p.m. for our Ice Cream Social.
