Chicago Executive Pilots Association to Host IMC Club
February 2017 - One of the first IMC Club chapters returned to Chicago Executive Airport (PWK) as an EAA/IMC Club on February 22 at the Ramada Plaza Hotel in Wheeling, Illinois. While the first meeting took place at the Ramada, meeting locations will alternate between the hotel and Signature Flight Support. The IMC Club is now run by EAA to promote the idea that instrument-rated pilots are only at their best when they stay proficient.
Radek Wyrzykowski, EAA’s manager of flight proficiency, was available at the meeting to explain the mission and objectives of the EAA/IMC Club. He was joined that night by air traffic control personnel from the Chicago TRACON to discuss proposed changes to MDW Charlie airspace, the ORD modernization program, local IFR, VFR routings, and other interesting topics.
Starting next month, the Chicago Executive Pilots Association (CEPA) will begin serving as the host organization for the EAA/IMC Club at PWK. Each month, the club will meet to bring together pilots for open discussions on how best to function in the national airspace system and how new and old technologies support these efforts. The substantial advantages of the EAA/IMC Club sessions are those discussions that almost everyone in the group seems to participate in. Pilots talk about some of the good and the bad IFR flights and issues they’ve personally experienced.
Each month’s CEPA newsletter lists information about the local EAA/IMC Club as well as local CEPA events. If you find these events interesting, don’t keep them to yourself — pass around the links! Don’t forget to visit Chiexec.com and sign up for the newsfeed to stay informed.
