January 14, 2016 - EAA is welcoming two chapters to our Kermit Weeks Hangar this January for volunteer work on EAA’s B-25 restoration project and B-17 Aluminum Overcast.

While visiting the Weeks Hangar this past weekend, Chapter 237 of Blaine, Minnesota, helped install a smoke oil system on the B-25 and worked on building waist gun mounts. They also removed the No. 4 engine from the B-17, broke down its tires to send in for re-tread, and helped out with the airplane’s tail inspection.

This coming weekend Chapter 790 of Lake in the Hills, Illinois, will help replace the Plexiglas in the tail of the B-25, as well as begin the tear down of the B-17’s No. 4 engine and the buildup of a new one for reinstallation.

Chapters interested in scheduling a Weeks Hangar chapter volunteer work party may contact Gena Ruetten at (920) 426-6597 or John Hopkins at (920) 426-4875 at with the date(s) they would like to visit. The Weeks Hangar also has volunteer hours year-round on Wednesdays 5-9 p.m. and Saturdays 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Thank you to all of EAA’s chapters and members who share their time with us as volunteers. We couldn’t do what we do without you!
