In order to promote the idea of building your own aircraft, EAA volunteers Dave Gitelman and Keith Phillips from Chapter 288 demonstrate how to cleco together an Onex fuselage in front of the EAA tent. A big thanks to the volunteers from Chapter 288 who helped with this activity during the show.

This beautiful Bearhawk LSA is wearing the new Oratex Fabric covering system. The fabric system claims that “no solvents, no paint, no stench, no exposure to toxic chemicals of any kind” during the covering process. The fuselage provided in the Bearhawk kit is notable since it is the only steel tube fuselage that we know of that is still entirely gas welded together.

This striking Tucano LSA shares the sleek lines of its full-scale namesake.

The Commuter Craft Innovator prototype was designed by EAA member Richard Hogan, and is the forerunner of a planned roadable aircraft. It was unveiled at AirVenture Oshkosh 2015 but at the time it had not yet flown. Powered by a Titan IO-340, the prototype now has 28 hours of flight test time on it. Richard anticipates making an LSA version in addition to the roadable variant in the future.

This SuperSTOL XL is almost ready to fly but didn't quite make it in time for Sebring. This will be the first installation of a Titan X340 engine in the SuperSTOL XL. Flight testing was scheduled to begin shortly after the show.

January 28, 2016 - The 2016 U.S. Sport Aviation Expo had some challenging weather.  After two reasonable weather days, Friday was a bust with heavy storms which prompted the show to close at about 10 a.m.  Saturday was another difficult day with high winds that kept all but a few aircraft on the ground.
