Teen Gets Flight of a Lifetime with Sean Tucker
June 18, 2015 - Ever since Danny Dendler, 17, of Arcanum, Ohio, was a young boy, he’s been fascinated by flight. He remembers walking through the hangers at the city’s incredible National Air Force Museum, imagining what it’s like to fly with the birds. On Thursday morning, June 18, he found out, as Sean D. Tucker, EAA Young Eagles Chairman, provided Danny with a flight in the Oracle Extra 300L.
Tucker performs at this weekend’s 2015 Vectren Dayton Air Show and always provides a deserving youth with a Young Eagles flight prior to his scheduled air shows.
In the essay he submitted to qualify for the flight, Dendler wrote, “My lifelong dream was to be a fighter pilot in the United States Air Force, but my vision is not good enough to allow me entry for being a pilot. I am still chasing my dream in a way as I have enlisted into the Air Force at the age of 17.
“I think that being able to fly would almost bring completeness to my goals although I would not be able to be in control, still, conquering the skies would be a dream of mine come true.”
Gates for the Vectron Dayton Air Show open at 9 a.m. with performances both days from 11:30 a.m. through 4 p.m. Next week it’s on to the Minnesota Air Spectacular, June 27-28, in Mankato, Minnesota.
