EAA Insurance Solutions: Family Financial Security for $1.35/Day!

By Bob Mackey, Senior Vice President, EAA Insurance Solutions Administered by Falcon Insurance Agency, Inc.

July 1, 2015 - As pilots we do many smart things to ensure accidents don’t happen. We meticulously maintain our aircraft, we diligently refine our pilot proficiency, we monitor our personal health, and we plan our flights carefully for proper weather conditions. So what are we doing to take care of the unexpected? We train for the unexpected, but we also take financial steps when we buy insurance in case something goes wrong.

When the topic of insurance comes up most pilots think about aircraft insurance to protect ourselves and our family in case someone gets hurt, or our aircraft gets damaged. But what are we doing to provide financial security for our family if we are the one who gets hurt or dies? We don’t like to think about that, but we should!

Most everyone has some form of life insurance. That’s great; however, nearly 100 percent of standard life insurance policies exclude aviation, with the exception of riding aboard a scheduled airline flight. That’s important especially if you are a pilot.

If you do have a traditional life insurance policy with expanded coverage for personal general aviation, the majority of those insurance policies still exclude flying anything other than single-engine, fixed-wing standard category airplanes. That means no gliders or sailplanes, helicopters or gyrocopters, balloons, or experimental aircraft. Doing anything other than flying straight and level is excluded.

EAA Insurance Solutions administered by Falcon Insurance Agency has a one-of-a-kind Personal Insurance Plan that provides Aviation and Non-Aviation Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance (EAA AD&D Plan) designed exclusively for EAA members. The EAA AD&D Plan offers up to $250,000 for only $1.35 per day and EAA members can add expanded family coverage for just a few pennies more.

The EAA AD&D Plan includes any aircraft as long as it has an airworthiness certificate issued by the FAA, or its foreign equivalent. That means airplanes, seaplanes, gliders and sailplanes, helicopters and gyrocopters, powered parachutes, WSC trikes, balloons of all categories are included. Aerobatics and Phase I Area Restriction are also included.

If you want to get onboard right now just go to www.eaa.org/insurance where you can get complete details and enroll online. If you have any questions or need more details you may call 877-230-3252 where you will find a fully licensed aviation insurance professional able to assist you. So, what are you waiting for? Be a smart pilot and ensure your family financial security today!
