Can You Solve the Photo Mystery?

November 29, 2018 - Field Morey, EAA 1151584, from Oregon has a mystery that we’re asking fellow members to help solve. Field’s late father, Howard, is a Wisconsin Aviation Hall of Fame inductee and a former Cessna Aircraft dealer who is the namesake of Morey Field near Madison, Wisconsin. Field discovered an old photo featuring his parents and Steve Wittman, namesake of Oshkosh’s Wittman Regional Airport. It shows a group as it prepares for the delivery of two Cessna 195s to South America.

Field has identified six of the seven people in the circa 1951 photo, but can’t find the seventh. Neither can we at EAA headquarters or through our friends at Cessna.

Here is the listing of people in the photo (left to right):

  • Don Flower, former vice president and sales manager for Cessna and former owner of Don Flower Associates, an aviation insurance company in Wichita, Kansas.
  • Dr. A.E. Schwitty, a personal friend of the Moreys.
  • Howard Morey, Field’s father.
  • Margaret “Mickey” Morey, Field’s mother.
  • Dorothy Wittman.
  • Steve Wittman.
  • The unknown person.

Any history sleuths out there who want to help? If you have verification of the unknown seventh person in the photo, let us know via feedback@EAA.org.
