Aviation has been my passion for as long as I can remember and I started taking flying lessons in high school in 1981 as often as earnings from my minimum wage job permitted.  Ultralights were exploding in popularity at that time and my local FBO began renting a Rotec Rally 3 and Rally 2B.  I had one short flight with an instructor and was turned loose to solo the single seat Rally 2B which I rented frequently.

Becoming a proud Air Force member a short three months after graduating high school and four days after earning my private pilot certificate, I continued flying ultralights along with acquiring instrument and multi-engine ratings, commercial and certificated flight instructor-instrument certificates as I progressed through my 25 year Air Force career.  FAR Part 135 flying soon followed during my off-duty hours but the allure of ultralights persisted.

Now fully retired and 6,600+ flight hours later, I enjoy the plans-built Butterfly Aero Banty project I hope to finish soon and fly my Aerolite 103 as often as the weather permits.  Soon to reinstate my expired CFII, I eagerly look forward to working with those involved in the wonderful world of low and slow flying!
