Phillip Gragg

Phillip grew up in a flying family and earned his private pilot’s license at 18.  He quickly got into flying tailwheel and aerobatic aircraft, and later pursued seaplanes, gliders and helicopters.

Phillip was elected IAC President in July 2026, and previously served as Vice President and Director.  He has served on the executive, finance, and government relations committees, as well as several ad hoc committees on safety, contest rules, category alignment and merchandise.  He has contributed many articles to Sport Aerobatics magazine and is an active aerobatic competitor who has won numerous contests as well as regional and national awards, and championships.

Professionally, Phillip is a tenured Professor of Law and Associate Dean at California Western School of Law, in San Diego, California.

He currently owns a Pitts S-2A, and a Cessna 172 Skyhawk that has been in the family for 48 years. 

He has been an EAA and IAC member since he was 15.
