The Franckes: 39 Years and Holding
The Franckes, Lee, EAA #88765 and Nancy, EAA #739292, started their long and impressive EAA volunteer careers more than 39 years ago. Nancy’s parents, Don and Marcella Deischer, first got them involved helping out in the maintenance department. Lee and Nancy grew up volunteering at convention and enjoyed their time with their family and friends who kept them coming back each year. Since their start, they have volunteered in many different areas that include camper registration, security and most recently co-chairs of the Camper Locator in Camp Scholler.
In their roles as co-chairs of Camper Locator, they worked with the many wonderful volunteers who assisted guests of the convention find their friends and families’ campsites and provide general convention information. Lee and Nancy’s goal was to make Camper Locator a way to make the convention experience better for all attendees. They even helped build the Camper Locator building inside Camp Scholler. With technology changing and cell phones more readily available, the Camp Scholler Locator area will not continue in 2014. However, EAA will continue to have the help and support of the Franckes.
Lee and Nancy have already been onsite several weekends in 2014 to volunteer their time to help get the grounds ready for convention during EAA’s weekend work parties. During convention, you will find them in the maintenance area and Showplane Camping. EAA is very thankful for the support of volunteers like the Franckes.
