‘WOMEN SOAR YOU SOAR’ EMPOWERS GIRLS TO DISCOVER AVIATION AT EAA AIRVENTURE OSHKOSH 2018

Registration for attendees open through July 1, 2018

EAA AVIATION CENTER, OSHKOSH, Wisconsin — (June 13, 2018) — Limited openings remain in EAA’s Women Soar You Soar program on July 22-25, which strives to engage, inspire and educate young women to pursue their aviation dreams and beyond during EAA AirVenture Oshkosh, which is scheduled for July 23-29.

EAA is committed to growing participation in aviation by women, as less than 10 percent of all active pilots are women. The program allows for high school-aged girls to explore career options, make discoveries and find new inspirations within aviation.

The Women Soar You Soar program’s unique mentors provide a tremendous opportunity for young women to discover different entities within the world of flight, with the possibility of asking questions to women already established in the field.

This year’s female mentors include one of the highest ranking aerobatics competitors, Debby Rihn-Harvey, as well as aviation enthusiasts and educators Tami Ryley and Rochelle Oslick. Ryley and Oslick both are former military pilots and flew many airplanes ranging from F-16s to Grumman C-2 Greyhounds.

“The program not only introduces girls to strong women mentors working in a variety of different fields, but creates a close-knit community unlike any other program within aviation or technology,” said Tara Parkhurst, EAA’s museum educator. “As the aviation world gathers in Oshkosh each summer, it provides an unmatched opportunity to break down barriers for everyone wanting to pursue their dreams of flight.”

Women Soar You Soar 2018 is presented by HondaJet. The program features world class air shows, mentor meetings, hands-on workshops and more. Previous hands-on workshops included photography, flight simulations and aircraft building skills.

Registration is $100 per participant and is open through July 1, 2018, with registration including programming, meals and weeklong admittance to EAA AirVenture Oshkosh. More information and registration materials available at www.eaa.org/wsys.
