TV STAR/PILOT, WINTER FLIGHT FEST HIGHLIGHT JANUARY/FEBRUARY AT EAA AVIATION MUSEUM

EAA AVIATION CENTER, OSHKOSH, Wisconsin — (December 20, 2019) — The new year is bringing a variety of special events to the EAA Aviation Museum in January and February 2020, with highlights for all ages:

Thursday, January 2, 6:30 p.m. — Movie: “China Clipper”
This 1936 star-studded film is based on the true story of Pan American Airways, when an entrepreneur sees the triumph of Charles Lindbergh’s trans-Atlantic flight and becomes convinced that a trans-Pacific airline would be a success. The movie stars Humphrey Bogart, Pat O’Brien, and Beverly Roberts. Free admission for EAA members, $5 for nonmembers.

Thursday, January 16, 7 p.m. — Scott Blue of TV’s Ice Pilots
What’s it like to fly 70-year-old aircraft in 50-below-zero weather? Scott Blue, one of the pilots featured in the TV series Ice Pilots, will talk about those experiences in Canada’s Northwest Territories, as well as his exploits flying firefighting aircraft and air tankers. Free for all EAA members, and $5 for non-members.

Thursday, February 6, 6:30 p.m. — Movie: “The Memphis Belle: A Story of a Flying Fortress”
A 1944 documentary, directed by legendary director William Wyler, takes viewers along on an actual B-17 bombing mission over Germany during World War II. This restored version features actual Army Air Forces aviators, including Robert Morgan and Stanley Wray. Free admission for EAA members, $5 for nonmembers.

Thursday, February 20, 7 p.m. — Flying the B-29 Superfortress
Sean Elliott, one of only about a dozen pilots in the world approved to fly the famed four-engine, World War II-era bomber, will talk about the unique skills needed to fly this piece of history. In addition, EAA’s Chris Henry will highlight the World War II crews who flew this aircraft in combat. Free for all EAA members, and $5 for non-members.

Saturday, February 22, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. — Winter Flight Fest
This new event combines two longtime EAA favorites, the Skiplane Fly-In and Family Flight Fest. At Pioneer Airport, see small aircraft on skis take off and land on a snow-covering airstrip, highlighting this unique facet of recreational flight. Inside the museum, there are plenty of hands-on activity areas and scheduled demonstrations for all ages to enjoy and engage in flight. All activities included with regular museum admission and food concessions will be available on-site.

In addition, tickets are currently available for the March 14 EAA Hops & Props food/beer tasting fundraiser, which has become one of the most highly regarded craft beer events in the Midwest. Tickets for the main event as well as the VIP Beer Dinner are available at EAA.org/HopsProps.
