Chapter Leaders Come Together

By Bret Steffen, EAA Director of Education, EAA Lifetime 870589

EAA hosted another successful Chapter Leaders Academy in October, with more than 30 chapter leaders from all over the United States traveling to Oshkosh to learn more about successful chapter leadership. EAA staff members led several presentations, and as often seems to happen at these events, the real learning occurred during the conversations and questions that the presentations brought forward. The sharing of ideas and best practices really turns these events into something special each and every time.

All attendees had kind words for each other and the staff, with perhaps the most moving feedback coming from Gordon Davis of EAA Chapter 1522, Cynthiana, Kentucky:

“The information given during the Leadership Academy will be well served out in the chapters. The opportunity to network and connect with other chapter leaders and headquarters personnel, such as you guys, will prove invaluable. I feel that it has given me many tools to become a better, wiser chapter leader.

“I love what EAA represents. When standing atop of Compass Hill, I am always deeply moved, sometimes to the point of tears. The spirit of aviation is so strong there. I tell my wife all the time, ‘When I stand on top of Compass Hill, looking out over Pioneer Airport and the Memorial Wall, if you listen closely, you can hear the voices of a thousand pilots from the past, present, and future.’ So thanks for helping to preserve our freedom of flight.”

The EAA chapter office is always striving to provide chapters with the tools they need to succeed. More sessions will be scheduled soon, so please consider joining us for the next one. Learn more about the Chapter Leaders Academy.
