Fabricate A Cellphone Holder at Your Chapter Youth Workshop

January 2021 – Our newest EAA program offering to chapters, EAA Young Eagles Workshops, includes instructions and specific materials to offer hands-on projects for kids. Chapters engaging in the program receive a turnkey kit of materials for both classroom-style learning and hands-on activities. One of the activities for the kids is to fabricate a personal aluminum sheet metal cellphone holder. The cellphone holder is a simple project to help kids learn about aluminum sheet metal bending, drilling, and riveting, similar to the processes used when building a kit airplane. Each program kit includes project directions and 10 die cast aluminum EAA wings that may be used to embellish each cellphone holder.

The EAA Young Eagles Workshops program provides an opportunity for EAA chapters to offer youth who are of school age (approximately 11 to 17) an opportunity to learn about aviation in a social setting at a local airport. EAA Young Eagles Workshops can be a one-day or a multiple day experience geared to introduce kids to the basic elements of airplanes and aviation.
