Almost Time to Plan for AirVenture!

Well, it’s almost time to start planning your trip to Oshkosh for the “big meeting”. We’ve had a handful of people say that they are definitely not attending due to the political situation, but, as I said last month, EAA is purposefully apolitical. Many of us spend time in the U.S. on a regular basis and don’t find the average American to be in the least hostile to Canadians. Quite the opposite in fact. That being said, at-tendance at AirVenture is always an individual choice, but your support team, also known as the EAA Canadian Council and volunteers, are firmly committed to attending. Hopefully we’ll see you there. It’s always been the case that our American friends spend a lot of time in the Canadian tent, and one doubts that will change.
One question we’ve been dealing with is that one of our most well attended presentations “Flying to and from Canada”, was presented last year five times on Monday, Wednesday, Friday mornings, and Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. An alternative would be to present every morning at the same time since many of you like to sit in the flightline in the afternoons. If you see a strong preference we’d love to hear from you. One factor is obviously that many of you are unable attend for the whole week. If you found the af-ternoon presentation timing useful, we’d love to hear that too. It’s certainly nice to sit in air-conditioned luxury on a hot afternoon.
If you are considering writing an article for publication in Bits and Pieces, please read the guidelines in last months issue. There is some important information.
As always, please don’t hesitate to contact me, Ian Brown, at newsletter.EAACC@gmail.com, and thank you to those who did. Also a very special thanks to those who reached out with suggestions on how to make AirVenture a better experience for Canadians. I’ve passed on your much appreciated ideas.
Your committee is looking forward to meeting you at our Sunday night get together at the campground in Oshkosh. Put it in your calendars if you will be there. If you haven’t arrived by then, why not just drop by when you have a moment. Most of us are there most evenings.
