We have another new chapter to be happy about. The location is at the Courtenay Airpark in the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island. It was formed in the ‘50s during the early years of EAA and then became a Canadian RAA site for a while and recently came back to the fold with its original number, EAA Chapter 85. Known as the Comox Valley Chapter, meetings are held in the pilot’s lounge. It is a very accessible and welcoming airport with 24-hour self-serve avgas. The first monthly meeting was held on May 21, 2025, and they plan to hold meetings monthly through October each year. The Comox Airport is only a couple of miles away, but it seems to be largely a military base. If any military folks are reading this, how about sending us an article? Do you fly “our type of aircraft” after hours?

If you’re a pilot fortunate enough to be a chapter member, you probably have a Christmas party this month. Have fun and enjoy your evening out with other pilots and their loved ones. It’s a great time to swap some stories. If you don’t live close enough to an existing chapter, maybe it’s a good time to think of the benefits of forming one by contacting Phillip Johnson at chapters.EAACC@gmail.com and asking about it.

As always, please don’t hesitate to contact me, Ian Brown, at newsletter.EAACC@gmail.com and I appreciate those who do. Keep sending me you newsletter submissions, and a big thank-you to those that did this month.

We would like to wish you all a very happy holiday season, whatever your family celebrates. Hopefully Santa will bring you some aviation-related presents.
