Well, It’s September Already!

Well, I hope you had a lovely summer, whatever you got up to. Hopefully it had something to do with building, fixing, or flying an aircraft! This is being written toward the end of August, but by the time you read it, your kids or grandkids will be back to school, the days are already getting shorter, and our incredible warm days are already cooling off, fairly rapidly. Maybe you can still go flying for quite a while, and those flights to watch the sunsets are one of the best parts of fall flying.
Your Canadian Council is already planning for next year’s AirVenture, and as you will see in Raquel’s piece, we are planning to make Oshkosh 2027 an even better year for Canadian attendees. We’re already looking forward to seeing many of you at our Canadian tent, whether it’s for the Sunday night meal and get-together, the morning breakfast later in the week with a relevant speaker, or just to join us for the Thursday afternoon ice cream. My own role in all of this it to help set up the speakers in our presentation room, and give some information about “Flying to and From Canada.” What a lot of Canadian readers may not realize is that not only is it our most well-attended talk, but most of the attendees are American. One day I asked for a show of hands and the audience for that particular talk was 100-percent U.S. participants. While we like to think of our Canadian tent as fundamentally a home-away-from-home while we’re there, the bigger picture is that we provide an important service to our neighbours who want to know more about us, and flying in Canada.
We seriously anticipate an even better year in 2027, but 2026 was a great Oshkosh, and we hope you might agree.
