Remember, Remember the Fifth of November!

Gunpowder, treason, and plot! Well, unless you grew up in the UK, as I did, you probably don’t know what I’m rambling on about. Guy Fawkes Night is coming up in the UK. It’s bonfire night and they sell fireworks then. Guy Fawkes was a member of a group of guys who managed to secretly install multiple barrels of gunpowder in the Houses of Parliament. His idea was to blow the whole place up. He was caught and executed publicly. So why am I telling you all this? Well, apart from the lamest reason of all, “Hey, November’s coming, what can I talk about?,” there is a more rational reason. Fireworks are best after dark, and you’ve probably recalled that being out at someone’s Canada Day celebration, it’s kinda late by the time you got home, if you waited that long. Where I live, the clocks change a few days before so it’s going to have sunsets around 5 p.m. on November 5, which would be perfect for a nice bonfire and fireworks and perhaps a refreshing beverage or two and still get home to bed before it gets really, chilly. OK, enough of this. On to some stuff about aviation!
You might notice that we don’t have anything from Raquel this month. Well, behind the scenes she’s still very active on your behalf, but I guess she didn’t feel like she had much to say this month, so she took a break. Maybe I could learn a lesson from that instead of rambling on about my youth!
Just so you know, if you were considering writing something for Bits and Pieces, the most popular articles, by a fair margin, are ones that could be read quickly about some trick or small gizmo that you implemented that made flying easier or more rewarding. Did this trigger a thought for you? Why not write yourself a note to spend a few moments writing something and sending it to me. Has anyone flown over the perfect fall colours that would like to share some images?
