As I write this, Manitoba just had a late-season snowstorm, with next week’s weather expected to hit a high of 22 degrees Celsius. Hopefully we’re on our way to beautiful flying weather!

For chapters that offer Young Eagles flights, EAA is offering a $25 Young Eagles credit for each new pilot that begins to fly with your chapter. As EAA Chapter 63’s Young Eagles coordinator, I cannot say enough great things about the program. For the past couple of years, we haven’t had to advertise our Young Eagles rallies — we have a waitlist of youths that have reached out to us throughout the year. While many youths that take a Young Eagles flight do not go on to a career in aviation, it is very rewarding, as a pilot, when you learn about those that do. We have had many that have gone on to fly as a commercial pilot, study to be an aircraft maintenance engineer, or become an air traffic controller. Most of them say that their passion started with their first Young Eagles flight!

We are just over two months away from AirVenture. If you haven’t registered with Phil about camping, please contact him soon. We are working on setting our speaker schedule, so if you will be at AirVenture and you have a topic to present, please email me at chair.eaacc@gmail.com.

Our official Canadian schedule for AirVenture will be out soon, but we are planning our annual Welcome BBQ on kickoff Sunday, July 19. We will have our Ice Cream Social and, of course, our Canadian Breakfast. Information to follow soon.

In closing, I’d like to congratulate Canadians Christopher King and Jashanpreet Kaur, on each being selected as a winner of an EAA flight training scholarship. We will include a feature article on each of them in our newsletters.

If you have an idea for a topic, but don’t know how to get started on your article, let me know. We have some volunteer writers that can easily help to get it written.

Happy Flying!
