First Successful Chapter Leadership Boot Camp Held

February 4, 2016 - It’s fitting that the birthplace of the chapter movement, Chapter 1 at Flabob Aircraft in Riverside California, was the location of the first Chapter Leadership Boot Camp this past weekend.  Chapter Leadership Boot Camps are intense one-day courses on how to be a better leader, focusing on topics important to chapters. Areas covered in the class spanned from EAA resources to member recruiting to fundraising.

“We call this a Boot Camp because it is like drinking from a fire hose! We try to make sure we cover as much as possible in one day” said Charlie Becker, director of chapters for EAA.  “You couldn’t ask for a better, more committed group of EAA members than the attendees at the Boot Camp. We really appreciate the time they devoted to improving their chapters.”

Flabob Airport was kind enough to give participants tours of their DC-3 Flabob Express.

Jim O’Brien, president of Chapter 1, said, “I just thought it was a great success the first time out of the box. We were just excited to be able to help.”

EAA thanks Chapter 1 for doing such a wonderful job of hosting the session. We really appreciate their willingness to make the training session a success.

The next boot camp will be held on Saturday, February 20, at Spruce Creek Airpark hosted by Chapter 288 in Daytona Beach, Florida. Register today!
