Wisconsin CFIs Present Tailwheel Refresher Workshops

March 29, 2017 - A group of Wisconsin CFIs has set up a state-wide series of tailwheel refresher workshops to increase proficiency in tailwheel flying and reduce tailwheel accidents. The group worked with the FAA’s Milwaukee FSDO, EAA, and AOPA, in organizing these workshops, which qualify for FAA WINGS credit.

The one-day workshops will each consist of two sessions. The morning session takes place from 9 a.m. to noon, and includes a hands-on presentation by several instructors. Lunch is provided by the host airport, then the afternoon is dedicated to dual instruction for interested pilots. Separate dual instruction can also be arranged with local tailwheel CFIs for those who are unable to fly on the day of the workshop.

There are currently four workshops scheduled, with two more in the planning stage:

  • Hartford (KHXF), April 28, 2018
  • Brodhead (C37), June 2, 2018
  • Three Lakes (40D), June 23, 2018
  • Palmyra (88C), August 11, 2018

The workshops are free of charge, while local rates will apply for the optional dual instruction, and advance registration is required. For more information and to register, contact CubAir Flight School in Hartford online or by phone at (262) 725-3591.
