May 26, 2016 - On Wednesday, Jack Pelton accepted an award from the U.S. Air Force in recognition of EAA's support of Air Force recruiting efforts. Lt. Col. Travis Brabec, commander of the 347th Recruiting Squadron based in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, presented the award to Pelton in front of Paul Poberezny's iconic P-51 Paul I in the Eagle Hangar.

More interesting, Brabec told us that his dad used to bring him to EAA when he was young, traveling from their family home in Prescott, Wisconsin, along the Mississippi River. It was then that Brabec's interest in airplanes began -- an interest that included participation in the EAA Air Academy in 1991. It shows the foundation created at EAA can lead to great things for its alumni!

This year’s Air Academy sessions for young people ages 12-18 begin on June 20. Support for these residence youth education programs comes from such activities as the annual Gathering of Eagles fundraiser and from EAA chapters that sponsor young people to attend the camps in Oshkosh each summer.
