FAI World Aerobatic Champions Announced

    Rob Holland of the U.S. won first place in the Final Freestyle for the third time in a row.

September 9, 2015 - The 28th FAI World Aerobatic Championships wrapped up August 29, with French pilots Captain Alexandre Orlowski and Aude Lemordant named as the new overall men’s and women’s world champions, respectively.

While France took home the gold medals for team ranking and men’s and women’s individual rankings, a repeat of the 2013 championships results, Rob Holland, EAA 555134, of the U.S. won first place in the Final Freestyle for an unprecedented third time in a row.

The 2015 U.S. team consisted of captain Goody Thomas, EAA 504997; Jeff Boerboon, EAA 363600; Benjamin Freelove, EAA 622937; Mike Gallaway, EAA 530544; Holland; Brett Hunter, EAA 474371; Mark Nowosielski, EAA 632511; and Melissa Pemberton, EAA 723424.

The U.S. placed third in the team rankings, and Pemberton also took home the bronze in the individual women’s rankings.

EAA was pleased to host Holland, Boerboon, and Pemberton from team USA as a part of the AirVenture 2015 performance lineup in July.
