Longtime Volunteer Gone West
November 3, 2016 - EAA was saddened to hear that longtime docent and photo volunteer Jim Labre, EAA 731016, of Neenah, Wisconsin, passed away November 1. Jim and his wife Bev volunteered as docents in the EAA AirVenture Museum for many years, greeting guests and guiding them through the museum.
“You never met a nicer guy than Jim,” said EAA Museums Program Representative Chris Henry, who heads the docent program. “No matter how busy the museum got he was always smiling and excited to share aviation’s story, especially with kids.”
Jim also served on the docent committee and was instrumental in continuous improvements to the program and getting young docents involved.
During the AirVenture season, Jim would extend his volunteer efforts to EAA’s photo and video department, organizing the workspace and making sure equipment was checked out properly in the months leading up to the event, and helping with photography needs the week of.
Jim was a shining example of the many devoted volunteers belonging to the EAA family, and we thank him and Bev for their many years of service and friendship.
A memorial service followed by military honors will be held November 5 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Gabriel Parish in Neenah, Wisconsin. Online condolences can be shared here.
