College Park Continues to Grow
EAA Volunteer Newsletter, May 2014
By Bret Steffen, EAA Lifetime 870589, Director of Education
Now in its second year, College Park is proving to be a fantastic destination for those interested in education and careers associated with aviation. This year, Alpha Eta Rho – a co-ed professional college aviation fraternity – will be hosting several engaging activities in College Park’s Quad area. There will be daily yard games and opportunities to talk with current aviation students about their college experiences.
The big item in the area will be EAA’s F-86 Sabre, which will is a cool backdrop for the selfie contest during AirVenture. In addition, volunteers will help young people put together a “one- day wonder” radio-controlled aircraft on Tuesday and Friday. Then there’s the job fair on Wednesday, military awareness day and the College Social on Friday, and Alumni day on Saturday that provide interesting reasons to stop by regularly to join the fun. Finally, everyone can participate in our first Munzee hunt. Munzees are a hi-tech version of a scavenger hunt. Download the app and start looking for the QR codes to scan – and learn something about EAA along the way.
As this area grows, EAA seeks to engage more volunteers to ensure that the opportunities in this area continue to be the highest quality. If you are interested in being a part of the scene in College Park contact Katie Meyer here at EAA!
