Step 4: Sporty’s Learn to Fly Course

Why take the Sporty’s Learn to Fly Course?

How do I access the course?

Once you have enrolled in the course, you will receive a confirmation email from Sporty’s with your login credentials and a direct link to access the course (Sportys.com/YoungEagles).

Please note that this is a special Young Eagles version of the course and must be accessed through the link provided. It is not available through the standard Sporty’s website.

Is there an age requirement?

The course is recommended for people ages 13 and up.

How do I sign up?

If you pre-register for your flight through the Young Eagles online registration system (EAAChapters.org), you can opt in to receive a complimentary EAA Student Membership and access to Sporty’s Learn to Fly Course during the registration process.

If you did not pre-register online or missed the opportunity to opt in, you can still register using the Young Eagles logbook provided after your flight.

On the back cover of the logbook, you’ll find a direct link and a unique access code to activate your free EAA Student Membership and enroll in Sporty’s Learn to Fly Course.

Sporty’s will email your login credentials directly to you. Please allow up to 24 hours to receive this email.

What if I don’t have an access code?

You can register for your free EAA Student Membership even if you didn’t receive an access code from your pilot. All you need to do is answer a few questions about your flight so your status can be verified.

When can I begin my course?

Sporty’s will send you an email with your username and password. Once you receive that you can begin the course.

How is the course set up?

Sporty’s Learn to Fly Course lets you decide which pilot certificate works best for you — sport, recreational, or private. After you complete the entire Learn to Fly course and pass the FAA written exam, EAA will reimburse you for the exam. Only the free first flight lesson is triggered by completion of the first three volumes. A student member cannot be reimbursed for the written exam unless they have completed the entire course.
