Chapter Advisory Council Members Needed — Apply Now!
October 15, 2018 — If you have a passion for EAA and your local chapter and have a desire to share ideas and initiatives that could help improve the EAA chapter network, holding a seat on the EAA Chapter Advisory Council (CAC) may be a good fit for you.
At the EAA membership meetings held during EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2015, the EAA board of directors approved a multiyear chapter strategic plan. The plan was the work of a special board committee headed by EAA board member Cody Welch. A key part of that plan was to form a new volunteer Chapter Advisory Council specifically charged with providing input to EAA staff.
For three years, Jim O’Brien, Joyce Woods, Matt Simmons, Darlene Ford, John Maxfield, and Gordon Davis have proudly served on the Chapter Advisory Council. With their input, EAA was able to launch the Flying Start program, open the Camp Scholler Chapters Pavilion, design the Chapter Launch Kit for new chapters, and help make many improvements for chapter leaders and members.
However, as the three-year term for these individuals comes to a close, EAA is seeking new candidates. Candidates for the council should be actively engaged members of their local chapter with a minimum of two years’ experience as a chapter officer. The term will be three years, and the council meets annually in Oshkosh in addition to monthly teleconferences. Volunteers should plan for a commitment of up to 10 hours per month.
