Sign Up for a Chapter Leadership Academy in Oshkosh

Registration is now open for the upcoming Chapter Leadership Academies in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Every year, EAA offers these academies so chapter leaders can learn how to improve their chapter. These training sessions give you the opportunity to learn about best practices for running your chapter and provide you with information on new and existing chapter programs and resources. Perhaps most importantly, these events allow you to interact with other chapter leaders who can share their experiences and provide their perspectives on issues like the ones you may face in your chapter.
Topics covered at a Chapter Leadership Academy include:
- Recruiting and retaining chapter members
- Marketing strategies for your chapter
- Insurance and risk management
- EAA resources for your chapter
- Media and public relations
- Tax-exempt status
- Chapter programs and activities
Each Chapter Leadership Academy takes place over two days and is held at the EAA Aviation Museum in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Attendees are traditionally housed in the EAA Air Academy Lodge, and meals are provided. Evening entertainment is offered with special tours or presentations. There is no cost to attend an Academy: food and lodging are provided by EAA for free. All that attendees have to pay for is transportation to get to and from Oshkosh.
Registration is open for the following Chapter Leadership Academies:
- October 19-21, 2022 (Wednesday-Friday)
- January 27-29, 2023 (Friday-Sunday)
- April 21-23, 2023 (Friday-Sunday)
In addition, stay tuned for news about upcoming Chapter Leadership Boot Camps. These are condensed, one-day, on-the-road versions of the Chapter Leadership Academy. Boot Camps are hosted by EAA chapters throughout the United States several times per year during the November through April timeframe. Being one-day events, Boot Camps have a somewhat tighter schedule, but they cover most of the same content that is included in Academies. Like Academies, Chapter Leadership Boot Camps are free to attend, except for the cost of getting to and from them.
Chapters whose leaders attend a Chapter Leadership Academy or Boot Camp during the current year will receive a Chapter Recognition point for fulfilling this activity.
EAA’s Chapter Leadership training sessions are consistently given a very high satisfaction rating by those who attend them. Comments such as the following are typical:
“As all new leaders in our chapter, this boot camp has been very helpful in so many ways. It covers so many aspects of having a successful chapter. Being new, this will help us be more creative in bringing in new members and mostly having a better chapter. Thank you!”
Many attendees have found these training events so valuable that they require all new chapter officers to attend them. For many chapter leaders, Chapter Leadership Academies and Boot Camps helped them rejuvenate their chapters and set them on a course for success. Some leaders even attend multiple Academies or Boot Camps to learn new information or refresh themselves on existing info.
